After suffering from dysmenorrhea (painful and difficult periods) for almost 20 years, I was determined to get to the root of the problem. For years doctors prescribed me birth control pills which somewhat helped but didn’t address the source of the issue. After my mom died of cancer, onset by hormone therapy, I was understandably weary of continuing a hormone regimen of birth control.

I switched to a holistic gynecologist who discovered I had endometrial polyps (an overgrowth of the uterine lining due to low levels of progesterone). I didn’t want them surgically removed, like most women do; instead I opted for a natural approach. This is where Dr. Dorothy Wells came in; she was highly recommended by my gynecologist.

I went on a plant-based progesterone cream (all natural), practiced restorative yoga for the reproductive system, and went for weekly acupuncture with Dorothy for 3 months. She is very knowledgeable, nurturing and caring–just the kind of person you want when your health is concerned. When I went out of town one week, she messaged me to check in to see how I was feeling. She goes the extra mile.

I’m grateful to say that for the first time in my life–without surgery or a pill–I’ve now had 4 regular pain-free periods. People are always amazed by my story and it’s true. Become an active participant in your own healing. Seek the right people who will support you along the way. Thank you, Dorothy, for helping me heal!
